Twelve pieces, cut and stitched above the old granary. Every one photographed open, with its contents laid out beside it, so you can count the capacity instead of taking our word for it.
The house rule
A closed bag tells you nothing. Every piece on this site was emptied onto the bench, counted, and shot again with its contents beside it — the laptop, the folder, the water bottle, the second pair of shoes. If something does not fit, the photograph says so before you order.
The numbers on each page are measured, not estimated. Litres are water-filled. Weights are the empty bag on a kitchen scale.
Above the granary
Soglia began in 2009 with one cutting bench borrowed from a saddler on the Volterra road. There are four now. The shoulder comes from a tannery an hour north; we buy whole hides, mark around the scars, and cut the wallets out of whatever the bags leave behind.
Nothing here is glued and pressed. Every seam is a saddle stitch, which means two needles, one thread and about forty minutes a metre.
Bring what you carry every day. We will find the piece that takes it, or tell you honestly that none of ours does.
